In San Martino di Colle Umberto, inside an ancient forge located not far from the places dear to the champion - his birthplace and his native village, the first museum space in Italy dedicated entirely to Ottavio Bottecchio is opening. Only original memorabilia or those that belonged to Bottecchio are on display inside.

La Storia 1894 – 1927
Ottavio Bottecchia was born 8/1/1894, in San Martino di Colle Umberto, an authentic phenomenon who performed many heroic feats in a few years and left an indelible mark on the world of cycling: he was actually the first Italian to win the Tour de France in 1924 in the yellow jersey from first to the last stage and won the Tour again the following year in 1925.
But we can also tell about him about the heroic deeds that earned him the Bronze Medal for military bravery, about his repeated escapes from Austrian captivity and about his hard work as a cartwright and bricklayer to support his large family. A man of hard work, sacrifice and accepting fate with humility without complaint and without regret.
