The Champagne-sur-Seine Velodrome

The Schneider Company and the Champagne-sur-Seinefamous and local sport club decided to build the velodrom in 1926. It was inagurated the same year. Many famous cyclist trained and raced on the Champagne-sur-Seine Velodrome: forexample André Leducq (vinner Tour de France 1930 and 1932), Antonin Magne (vinner Tour de France 1931 and 1934).

During WWII german military forces rode on the velodrom with their motorcycles. That seriously damaged the track. Velodrom was renovated in 1968. The Ile-de-France Regional Commitee recognized the track registred into official list of french velodroms. The owner Jeumont-Schneider Company gave the track to Champagne-sur-Seine Town hall in 1988. During our visit in 2024 we found the velodrome in a sorry state.
